Blessing of MBPhil’s New Office

MB Philippines, Inc. (MBPhil) recently moved to its new office in Makati City, the country’s major financial, commercial and economic hub.

On September 8, 2008, MBPhil held its office blessing officiated by Rev. Fr. Stephen of St. Andrews Church and was attended by MBPhil’s board of directors, officers and staff. It is the Filipino and Catholic tradition that when moving to a new home or office, the new place should be blessed in order to bring goodwill, prosperity and success as well as to drive away evil spirits.

Fr. Stephen initiated the ceremony by inviting everybody, while holding the lighted candles, to participate in the Blessing Prayer. Fr. Stephen, who was then guided by Chairman Senen Glorioso and President Romy Tumalad, walked throughout the new office while blessing with sprinkles of Holy Water everything in sight in all the rooms, including the servers in the data center, computer equipment and furniture.

Fr. Stephen also blessed the coins and candies which were scattered by the members of the board from room to room, while the staff jubilantly picked the coins and candies for them to keep. A modest but pleasant-tasting meal followed after the blessing ceremony.

The board of directors needs to carefully select an auspicious date and time for the blessing. August 8, 2008 was originally selected to be the blessing date but was then moved to September 8, 2008, co-celebrating the Feast Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
